Demonstration of ALTRIV, an Autonomous Driving Software that Overcomes Changing Urban Environments

NAVER LABS has been differentiating autonomous driving technology from three perspectives: HD map data, complex urban environments, and integrated software, since becoming the first in the IT industry to receive a temporary autonomous driving permit in 2017. The following is the latest autonomous driving demonstration video using 'ALTRIV,' NAVER LABS’ autonomous driving software.

ALTRIV is an integrated software with technologies essential for autonomous driving, such as perception, localization, planning, and control. It aims to develop autonomous driving technology that reliably responds to various changes in the complex urban environment. In addition to autonomous driving under simplified conditions, we are further developing technology to stably and continuously respond to various environmental changes that occur in the city; including seamless localization in underground parking lots where GPS does not work, precision control for floor-to-floor movement in narrow ramp sections, and robust environment perception to changes during day/night and indoors/outdoors. 

ALTRIV is also one of the core software components of 'ARCVERSE,' NAVER LABS’ digital twin-based metaverse ecosystem. It plays a significant role in expanding the scope of ARCVERSE, which organically connects digital spaces and reality, to entire cities. In the future, we will continue to demonstrate robust autonomous driving technology even in complex urban areas, focusing on NAVER's second headquarters and the data center GAK Sejong, which will become the key base for NAVER’s technology convergence.
